Rib Mountain State Park has more than 13 miles of hiking trails. Trails cross the mountain and lead toward rock formations, wooded sections, overlooks, and some of the area’s best-known viewpoints.
The park’s 60-foot observation tower gives Cabintimers a broad look across the Wausau area and Wisconsin River landscape.
Come in fall and the mountain becomes a natural place to watch the season change. Come in summer and hiking can fill a morning before the heat of the day. Winter visitors can explore snowshoeing and winter hiking opportunities in addition to downhill skiing nearby.
Rib Mountain is also geologically fascinating. This landscape has been around for roughly a billion years. Standing at an overlook adds a little perspective to whatever seemed urgent back home.
Spend an Afternoon in Wausau
This is where Wausau Chalet separates itself from many Wisconsin waterfront rentals.
