Cabintimers, meet a classic Wisconsin lake escape with front-row views. Bartel’s Beach Cottage sits across from popular Bartel’s Beach on Rock Lake in Lake Mills. The setting is easy. Sand, swings, and sunset colors are steps away. Downtown coffee and craft beverages are just a short ride.

The stay

This 1,200-square-foot cottage was renovated for comfort and convenience. Hardwood floors and vaulted ceilings add space and light. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The primary bedroom has a queen. The second bedroom has two sets of bunk beds. A sleeper sofa in the living room adds flexibility. The layout works for families and friend groups.

Cabintimers spread out in a large living room that looks toward the lake. Central A/C keeps summers cool. A gas fireplace takes off the shoulder-season chill. Stream or watch a movie night on the TV with Roku and DVD. WiFi keeps everyone connected.

The kitchen is stocked and ready with full-size appliances and granite counters. Small appliances include a coffee maker, toaster, and pizza oven. You’ll also find cookware, utensils, and dinnerware. A washer and dryer simplify longer stays. Bed, bath, and kitchen linens are provided.

Out front, the beach and playground are roughly 50 feet from the door. It’s as easy as it gets with kids and beach totes. Evenings end with sunset colors over Rock Lake from the living room or shoreline.

Good to know: No pets. No smoking.
