Book Direct with Cedaroma – No Fees, All Hospitality
One of the biggest perks of Cedaroma Resort listing its cabins on RentWisconsinCabins.com is the direct booking advantage. Instead of dealing with third-party platforms, your inquiry goes straight to Kris and Kim at Cedaroma. Here’s why booking direct makes your St. Germain cabin getaway even better:
No Service Fees: Unlike large travel sites, there are no extra booking fees – you pay exactly what the owner charges, with no hidden add-ons. That means more money in your pocket for vacation fun.
No Middleman: You’ll communicate one-on-one with Cedaroma’s owners, ensuring a quick, smooth reservation process. Have a special request or question? You’ll get fast answers directly from the people who know the property best.
Local Expertise: Kris and Kim are long-time local hosts who love sharing their knowledge. They can recommend the best fishing spots, scenic trails, supper clubs, and hidden gems around St. Germain. This insider info can turn a good trip into an unforgettable one.
“Kris was very accommodating and the cabin was very clean and nice. Plenty of parking for our large snowmobile trailers…” praised one guest, highlighting the friendly service and convenience Cedaroma provides. Booking direct means you’re treated like family from the start.
Cozy Cabins with Modern Comforts
Cedaroma’s ten cabins range from a cozy one-bedroom cabin perfect for couples to spacious vacation homes like the FarmHouse and Main LodgeHouse for larger groups. No matter which cabin you choose, you’ll enjoy a blend of classic Northwoods ambiance and modern amenities. Each cabin comes with a fully equipped kitchen (yes, full-size appliances and all the cookware you need) and a comfortable living area to relax after your adventures. Many cabins even feature air conditioning and dishwashers for those summer stays and easy clean-up. Several have gas fireplaces or wood stoves to keep things cozy on cool evenings. And with Cedaroma’s lakefront location, your rental isn’t far from the water’s edge – some cabins have direct lake views and are just steps from the beach and docks for easy lake access.
Guests often remark on the thoughtful touches and cleanliness of the cabins. One reviewer wrote, “A feast for the soul. That’s how I would describe my experience at Cedaroma Lodge. Beautiful surroundings, cozy, very clean, well-appointed cabins.” Cedaroma has preserved its time-honored charm while adding fresh updates and comforts vacationers appreciate, from strong Wi-Fi to fresh linens and comfortable beds. It’s the kind of place where you can unplug by the fire or watch a movie on the flat-screen – you decide your pace.
Pet-Friendly, Year-Round Northwoods Retreat
It’s not easy finding a truly pet-friendly resort in Wisconsin’s Northwoods, but Cedaroma is proud to welcome your four-legged family members (the resort even has an “official mascot,” Sparky the Blue Heeler pup, ready to greet guests with a wagging tail!). As one of the few pet-friendly resorts in the area, Cedaroma ensures that everyone – including Fido – feels right at home. The atmosphere is warm and family-friendly, making it ideal for reunions, friend groups, and couples alike.
Cedaroma Resort operates year-round, so you can enjoy the beauty of St. Germain in any season. Summer brings swimming and boating on the lake, while winter transforms the property into a snowy wonderland. The cabins are all-season, heated for winter coziness (some with that toasty fireplace) and cooled in the summer (thanks to that A/C). No matter when you visit, the Little Saint Germain Lake views and fresh pine-scented air create that up-north state of mind.
Fun on the Water: Summer at Cedaroma
Summer at Cedaroma Resort is all about lake fun and outdoor adventure. Little Saint Germain Lake spans over 900 acres, offering plenty of space for boating and fishing. Cedaroma makes it easy to enjoy the water with pontoon boat rentals available on sitet. Gather your group, pack a cooler, and cruise the lake for an afternoon of fishing or sunset sightseeing. Prefer a quieter paddle? Guests get to use canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, and stand-up paddleboards for free with their stay – an incredible perk that lets you explore the lake at your leisure. From casting a line for musky or walleye at dawn to an afternoon paddle along the shore, there’s no shortage of ways to soak up the sun on Little St. Germain.
For those who like to stay active on land, Cedaroma sits right next to the Heart of Vilas County Bike Trail (St. Germain trailhead). In fact, the resort is adjacent to a paved trail system connecting nearly 40 miles of scenic pathways. Bring your bike (or borrow one of Cedaroma’s cruiser bikes) and pedal through forests and wetlands on this renowned trail. The Heart of Vilas trail is great for all ages – an easy ride into St. Germain’s town center or a longer trek to neighboring communities. Hiking and ATV/UTV trails are also nearby for more outdoor exploration.
And of course, nothing beats a classic Northwoods summer evening at the resort: grilling out on your cabin’s deck (each comes with a BBQ grill), swapping stories around the campfire, and watching the stars twinkle over the lake. Cedaroma truly lets you savor “fun where it’s in our nature,” from swimming and fishing to just relaxing by the shore.
Winter Wonderland: Snowmobiling, Snowshoeing & More
When winter arrives in St. Germain, Cedaroma Resort embraces the season. The cabins stay open year-round, providing a cozy basecamp for winter sports. St. Germain is famous for its extensive snowmobile trail network, and Cedaroma is ideally situated to hop right on the trails – there’s direct access from the resort, with ample parking for your snowmobile trailers as one guest noted. Vilas County grooms hundreds of miles of snowmobile routes, and from Cedaroma you can ride for hours through snowy forests and across frozen lakes. The town is a true snowmobiler’s paradise (after all, nearby Eagle River is known as the Snowmobile Capital of the World, and St. Germain hosts part of that same trail system).
A must-visit for any sledding enthusiast is the Snowmobile Hall of Fame & Museum in St. Germain, which showcases over 100 vintage and championship snowmobiles, plus memorabilia that tells the story of this exciting sport. It’s a great stop to immerse yourself in Northwoods snowmobiling culture and see some classic machines up close.
If you prefer a quieter pace in winter, strap on some snowshoes or cross-country skis and hit the nearby trails. The woods around Cedaroma are serene under a blanket of snow – you might spot deer or fresh tracks of wildlife on a peaceful trek. Little St. Germain Lake offers ice fishing opportunities as well, for those eager to drop a line through the ice. And when you return to your cabin, you can warm up by the fire with a cup of hot cocoa. Winter vacations here are just as magical as summer ones.
St. Germain Activities for Every Cabintimer
Beyond the resort, the St. Germain area is packed with activities and attractions that Cabintimers (our cabin-loving travelers) will love. Here are a few highlights to add to your itinerary:
Heart of Vilas County Bike Trail: A scenic multi-use trail stretching roughly 40 miles through St. Germain and surrounding communities. Perfect for biking in summer or fat-tire biking in winter, this trail winds past lakes, forests, and wetlands. You can hop on the trail right near Cedaroma Resort and enjoy the Northwoods scenery on two wheels.
Elmer’s Fun Park: Looking for family fun? Elmer’s Fun Park in St. Germain offers go-kart tracks, wet-and-wild bumper boats, guided horseback trail rides, a bounce house for little ones, mini-golf, and even an ice cream shop with 32 flavors. It’s a great place to spend an afternoon with kids (or unleash your inner kid!).
Classic Supper Clubs: No trip to the Northwoods is complete without dining at a local supper club. St. Germain has several nearby, like the historic Clearview Supper Club on Big St. Germain Lake or Pub N’ Prime on Hwy 70. You can enjoy a Friday night fish fry, a juicy prime rib, and a Wisconsin-style brandy old fashioned in these nostalgic eateries. Come hungry and experience a beloved Wisconsin tradition.
Fishing: St. Germain is an angler’s delight. Little Saint Germain Lake itself is known for fishing – try your luck catching muskie, northern pike, bass, or panfish right from Cedaroma’s docks or your own boat. Nearby lakes and streams provide endless fishing opportunities in spring, summer, and even ice fishing in winter. Don’t forget to swap fish tales with the locals at the bait shop!
Snowmobiling: With over 500 miles of groomed snowmobile trails in Vilas County, this area is a winter hotspot for riders. St. Germain’s trails link up with those in Eagle River and beyond, meaning you can ride for days. Cedaroma’s location on the trail means you can start your engine at the cabin and go. The town even hosts snowmobile radar runs and festivals during the winter.
Snowmobile Hall of Fame & Museum: Dive into the history of snowmobiling at this museum right in St. Germain. You’ll find an impressive collection of vintage snowmobiles and racing memorabilia, and learn about legendary racers and machines that put St. Germain on the map for snowmobile enthusiasts. The museum is open year-round (limited days in off-season), and is a must-see for anyone interested in the sport.
Whether you’re biking the trails in June or sledding through powder in January, St. Germain offers plenty to see and do. And if you just want to relax, you can always find a quiet lakeside spot or a friendly tavern to enjoy the simple pleasures of the Northwoods.

It’s Cabin Time® takes pride in featuring dedicated members like Brekke’s Fireside Resort. For years, they’ve successfully welcomed Cabintimers who find them through RentWisconsinCabins.com. This family-operated resort sits on the shores of Lake George in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. It represents a classic lakeside cottage vacation experience. Brekke’s history stretches back decades. Booking your stay directly with them offers significant advantages for your trip planning and budget.
A Legacy on Lake George
The story of Brekke’s Fireside Resort begins in 1936. Arthur and Wanda Hutchinson purchased the land for $3,000. They built the foundation of the resort, including cottages 1 through 6 and the office building we see today. Arthur passed away in 1943, leaving a lasting mark.
The Brekke family chapter started in 1971. Ron and Carol Brekke bought the resort that year. They introduced updates, adding cottage 8 and establishing the current bar area. Sadly, Ron passed in 1977. Carol faced a difficult decision. She chose to remain and became the heart of the resort for over four decades. Her dedication, supported by helpful neighbors and generations of wonderful guests, kept the resort thriving.
Today, Ron and Carol’s children, Dan Brekke and Nancy Brekke-Jones, carry on the family tradition. They manage the resort with the same commitment to guest experience. While the resort has evolved over nearly 90 years, Dan and Nancy hope the warm, welcoming feeling guests take away remains constant.
Your Lakeside Cottage Experience at Brekke’s
Brekke’s Fireside Resort offers several exceptionally clean housekeeping cottages. These rentals provide a comfortable home base for your Northwoods vacation. Each cottage includes essential kitchen facilities like a microwave and coffee maker. The bathrooms feature showers. Linens are furnished for the beds. Guests should plan to bring their own bath towels and beach towels.
The resort ensures you have tools for outdoor enjoyment too. A 14-foot aluminum boat comes included with each cottage rental. Outside every cottage, you will find a 22-inch Weber grill for cookouts. A picnic table and lawn chairs are also provided. Modern conveniences are available. Guests have access to free Wi-Fi. Brekke’s is also a pet-friendly resort, welcoming furry family members.
Fun on Lake George
Lake George itself is a key attraction. The lake covers 446 acres. It reaches a maximum depth of 26 feet, with much of it ranging from 10 to 18 feet deep. Explore 5.5 miles of scenic shoreline.
Brekke’s offers many ways to enjoy the water. Relax on the gradual sloping sand beach. Swim out to the diving raft for a plunge. Kids love the large lily pad swim mat. Take advantage of the resort’s complimentary watercraft. Kayaks, paddle boards, paddle boats, and a canoe are all free for guest use. Remember, your cottage rental includes a 14-foot rowboat.
For those wanting more power, Brekke’s rents outboard motors. They also offer spacious 20-foot pontoon boats with 60hp motors for rent. These pontoons fit up to 10 people. They are perfect for cruising, swimming, or serious fishing. Pontoon rentals are available to resort guests and the public, but must stay on Lake George.
Fishing on Lake George is excellent. Anglers can target muskie, northern pike, walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, crappie, perch, bluegill, and rock bass. You can often catch panfish right off the resort docks. Brekke’s provides a lake map to help you find good spots. Need an edge? Rent trolling motors or portable fish locators. If you keep your catch, a fish cleaning house with running water and lights is available.
Guests are welcome to bring their own boats. There is ample dock space and trailer parking. Power outlets are located near the lake for battery charging (bring an extension cord). Please note, there is no boat launch on-site, but a free public launch is just two miles away. Due to the lake size, wake boats are not permitted.
More Resort Recreation
The fun at Brekke’s extends beyond the water. Numerous land-based activities keep guests entertained. Challenge friends or family on the tennis court or pickleball court. Enjoy classic resort games like shuffleboard and horseshoes. Play pickup games on the basketball court. Set up the net for volleyball or badminton.
Younger guests have a dedicated playground area with swings. Multiple picnic spots are scattered around the grounds. In the evening, gather around the communal firepit. Brekke’s provides the firewood. Need a break indoors? The resort features a bar and game room for relaxation and socializing.
