On the Bay in Northport: A Lake Michigan Stay Where Sunrise Sets the Tone. A RentMichiganCabins.com Listing Partner Since 2018!

Cabintimers, meet On the Bay—a shoreline vacation home in Northport where mornings start with coffee and a front-row seat to Grand Traverse Bay. This is Leelanau Peninsula living at a human pace. You’re a mile south of downtown, close enough for a bakery run yet tucked behind the trees with big-sky water views and space for everyone to spread out.

Inside, the home is built for easy, multi-generation travel: Wi-Fi and AC, a fully stocked kitchen with a dishwasher, comfy bedrooms, and plenty of books and games for a low-key afternoon. Outside, you’ve got a level lot that makes life simple—carry kayaks to the water, grill on the deck, gather around the firepit, and use the fish-cleaning station after a day on the bay. There’s boat and trailer parking, too. Non-smoking, no pets, kid-friendly, and even handicap access—helpful for grandparents or anyone who appreciates fewer stairs.

Why Cabintimers love this spot

Because Northport is north of the noise. Launch for paddles in calm water, scan the horizon for freighters, and let the sunrise handle your daily alarm clock. When you’re ready to roam, Leelanau’s best day trips fan out in every direction.

Northport & Suttons Bay: Walk into town for Friday’s farmers market, hit Barb’s Bakery for the classics, browse indie shops, and check the taps at Northport Brewing. In Suttons Bay, cycle the Leelanau Trail, sip at Tandem Ciders, and grab dinner steps from the marina.

Lighthouses & overlooks: Drive to Leelanau State Park and tour the Grand Traverse Lighthouse. Detour to Peterson Park for dramatic shoreline views or find a quiet swim at Christmas Cove.

Sleeping Bear Dunes day: Hike Empire Bluff or the Dune Climb, cool off in Glen Arbor, and wind back along M-22 with golden-hour stops at farm stands.

Wine & farm-fresh finds: This peninsula is grape country. Green Bird Cellars & Farm near Northport is a worthy stop, and the Leelanau Wine Trail dots the map with scenic pours.

Good-to-know booking notes (because clarity = relaxation)

Book direct with the owner for the lowest rate and local tips—no platform service fees, no middleman. Typical stays require two nights, with weekly bookings in late June through early September. You’ll see straightforward policies and an old-school owner contact who actually knows the shoreline, the winds, and where to launch on a calm day. That’s the Cabin Time difference.

Trip-planning spark

Here’s a simple “On the Bay” rhythm: sunrise paddle, bakery run, midday swim off the bay, nap in the hammock shade, lighthouse at golden hour, s’mores by the firepit, stargazing to close the loop. Repeat, but swap in a wine trail, a Suttons Bay bike ride, or a Glen Arbor picnic. Your call.

Ready to map out a lakeshore week that actually breathes? Visit the On the Bay listing on RentMichiganCabins.com and book directly with the owner. Bring your questions—local expertise comes standard when you skip the middleman.

Scott Lakes Properties in Southwest Michigan: Lake life for Cabintimers who love space, sunsets, and no service fees. A RentMichiganCabins.com Listing Partner Since 2018!

Scott Lakes Properties in Southwest Michigan: Lake life for Cabintimers who love space, sunsets, and no service fees. A RentMichiganCabins.com Listing Partner Since 2018!

There’s a sweet spot in Southwest Michigan where two inland lakes meet easy access to Lake Michigan towns. Scott Lakes Properties sits in Lee Township between Upper Scott Lake and Lower Scott Lake, a quick drive to South Haven, Saugatuck, and Douglas. Cabintimers come for the water, the woods, and the flexibility to host everyone—from a couples’ weekend to a 32‑person reunion. Book direct, skip extra fees, and get real local tips from the team who knows these shores best.

Scott Lakes at a glance

Lake time starts in the backyard. Many homes offer private docks and sandy swim areas. Several add hot tubs with a water view. Firepits, grills, and big decks keep the gathering going after sunset. Inside, you’ll find roomy great rooms, game spaces with pool or air‑hockey, and cozy corners for morning coffee. It’s the Midwest lake vibe, dialed in.

Stay your way: from cozy to colossal

Cabintimers can pick from stand‑alone homes or smart dual‑home combos on Upper and Lower Scott Lake. Here are a few guest‑favorites to help you plan:

• Lodge & Lake (dual‑home). Two neighboring homes team up for lake days and forest walks. 13 bedrooms and 10.5 baths welcome up to 32 Cabintimers.

• Serenity Lake Combo. Two lakefront homes on Lower Scott Lake with 8 bedrooms and 7.5 baths. Decks, fireplaces, hot tub, private dock—easy living for up to 20.

• Lucky Duck + Hawk’s Haven. Split your crew across the street and still gather on Upper Scott Lake. 10 bedrooms, 7.5 baths, private beach and dock, and a rec room for rainy‑day fun.

• Scott Creek Lodge (single‑home). Seven bedrooms and 7.5 baths, a fireplace that warms both inside and the patio, plus a secluded hot tub. Not on the shoreline, but you still get a private beach and dock a short drive away—great value for big groups.

• More options. Look at Sunset Shores Lake House, Eagle’s Nest, Swan Shores, Heron’s Landing, Sunset Beach House, Upper Scott Lake Retreat, Maple Woods Hideaway, White Oaks Haven, Woodland Pines, and Morningside Vista. The mix covers hot tubs, screened porches, detached game rooms, and pet‑friendly stays.

Why Cabintimers love this location

You’re less than 20–30 minutes from beach towns you’ve heard about for years. Spend a sunny day at Oval Beach in Saugatuck or stroll the South Haven pier and lighthouse. Sample Southwest Michigan wine country with stops at Fenn Valley, Modales, and Michigan Wine Company. Take kids to the Allegan Event indoor ropes course or the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo. Learn Great Lakes history at the Michigan Maritime Museum. When the orchards ripen, hit Crane Orchards for u‑pick fruit and a fall corn maze.

Four‑season fun

Spring brings Tulip Time in Holland and antique‑hunting at the Allegan Antiques Market. Summer means farmers’ markets, art fairs, lake swims, and golden sunsets. Fall pops with color around Upper Scott Lake; plan apple picking and the Allegan County Fair. Winter brings the South Haven Ice Breaker festival, local ski hills like Bittersweet and Timber Ridge, and quiet hot‑tub nights under a snowy sky. Lake life doesn’t clock out.

How to plan your stay

Pick your dates, party size, and must‑haves. Need a private beach and dock? Want a hot tub or a game room? Traveling with pets? There’s a match on these two lakes. Chicago is roughly a 2.5‑hour drive. Detroit is about three. Grocery runs are easy, and towns nearby cover coffee, craft beer, and dinners out. Ask the Scott Lakes team for pairing ideas if you want two homes for a larger group.

Book direct and keep more for the fun stuff

Cabintimers know this rule: book direct to keep dollars in your trip, not in fees. You’ll talk with a local team, get better date flexibility, and hear real‑time advice on fishing spots, kayak rentals, and hidden beaches. First‑timers—watch for newsletter specials. Ready to start? Head to Scott Lakes to browse homes, check calendars, and reserve your stay.

Lake Days & Sauna Nights at Little Bowstring Lake Cabin — Deer River, MN. A RentMinnesotaCabins.com Listing Partner Since 2022!

Lake Days & Sauna Nights at Little Bowstring Lake Cabin — Deer River, MN. A RentMinnesotaCabins.com Listing Partner Since 2022!

Cabintimers, picture your crew rolling up to a true Northwoods cabin right on Little Bowstring Lake. Think sunrise coffee on the patio, a lazy float to the swim raft, then a crackling fire as stars pop out over the water. This Deer River cabin is built for making memories — and it’s book-direct, so you skip the fees and talk with the local owner who knows every cove and trail.

Here’s what sets this stay apart: space, shoreline, and serious perks. Inside, the pine interior stretches out to around 2,600 square feet with three bedrooms plus a loft. There’s room for a big family or two, plus a laundry room for sandy towels and a jetted tub to soak after a day on the lake. Fast Wi‑Fi keeps game night and streaming easy when the weather turns.

The lake toys come standard. Your visit includes a private 48’ dock and a 16’ aluminum fishing boat with outboard and trolling motor. Slide the kayaks in at sunrise. Paddle the canoe to your favorite fishing hole. Let the kids claim the private sand beach, swimming platform, and the pile of floaties. When it’s time to grill, step out to the patio that faces the water. Evenings end around the fire pit with a hammock nearby calling your name.

A wood‑fired outdoor sauna and shower turn any season into a treat. Summer brings central A/C, which is a rarity up here. Winter stays are dialed in with in‑floor heat, so you can ski or snowmobile all day and come back to a warm floor and a comfy couch in front of the stone fireplace.

Pets are welcome too. There’s an outdoor kennel for worry‑free dinners in town, and house rules keep everything fresh for the next guest. Bring the whole pack.

When you’re ready to explore, you’ve got options in every direction. Paddle Little Bowstring at first light, then check out other nearby lakes like Deer, Moose, Caribou, and North Star. Lace up for trails in the Chippewa National Forest, or head to Suomi Hills for cross‑country skiing and quiet woods in winter. Prefer a day in town? Grand Rapids is an easy drive for coffee, breweries, and live shows at the Reif. Stop at the Forest History Center, browse the Macrostie Art Center, or catch a Saturday night at the speedway.

Planning tips for Cabintimers:

• Summer is weekly, Saturday‑to‑Saturday — plan ahead for prime weeks.
• Pack beach towels, but toss in layers for cool nights by the fire.
• Bring your favorite lures. There’s a fish‑cleaning station on site for that post‑bite fry‑up.

This is the kind of cabin that pulls everyone outside. Kayaks on the shoreline. Kids racing to the raft. A boat waiting at the dock. And later, a post‑sauna sprint to the lake under a bright northern sky. That’s Cabin Time.

Ready to visit Little Bowstring Lake Cabin? Check dates and book directly with the owner to avoid service fees and get local tips before you arrive.

Deer Lake Resort: Your Own 40‑Acre Lake + 9‑Bedroom Northwoods Lodge in Winchester, WI. A RentWisconsinCabins.com Listing Partner Since 2018!

Deer Lake Resort: Your Own 40‑Acre Lake + 9‑Bedroom Northwoods Lodge in Winchester, WI. A RentWisconsinCabins.com Listing Partner Since 2018!

Big week ahead? Bring the whole crew to Deer Lake Resort in Winchester, Wisconsin. Cabintimers get the rare combo here: a private, 40‑acre, electric‑only lake wrapped by nearly two square miles of forest and a 9,000‑sq‑ft lodge that sleeps up to 20. It’s quiet. It’s spacious. And it’s set up for easy living and long lake days—without neighbors peeking over the dock.

Why Cabintimers love this Winchester, WI cabin rental

This is a true large‑group basecamp. You’ll find nine bedrooms and six full baths, including a 1,000‑sq‑ft bunk room with its own sitting area and fireplace. There are four fireplaces total, multiple family rooms with lake views, and a lakeside screened porch perfect for morning coffee or late‑night card games. The oversized dining/family room overlooks the water and gives everyone a place to gather without squeezing onto pullouts.

The kitchen was remodeled recently and is stocked to feed a crowd: two coffee makers plus a 50‑cup brewer, two slow cookers, a convection oven, commercial gas cooktop, two full‑size refrigerators, and a stand‑up freezer. Bar seating for six keeps the cooks company while they work. Pro tip for planners: bring the spice kit and a menu—this kitchen can handle it.

On‑the‑water fun (all included)

Because Deer Lake is private and electric‑only, the water stays calm and wildlife hangs close. Fishing is catch‑and‑release and the lake has been stocked with walleye over the years, along with northern, crappie, and panfish. Your group can spread out on the private sand beach, swim platform, and dock. Boats and toys are part of the package: kayaks, canoes, paddle board, paddle boats, two 14‑ft fishing boats with electric motors, a two‑person electric pontoon, and a 6–8 person electric pontoon. Want to waterski? There’s a slip on nearby Birch Lake for your motorboat.

Game on, rain or shine

The lower‑level game room keeps kids and night owls happy with ping‑pong, foosball, and video games. Outside, set up volleyball on the big lawn, shoot hoops, or gather by the firepit. There’s also a hot tub and multiple decks when you’re ready to unwind.

Trail time & town time

Just a few miles away, WinMan Trails offers 20+ miles of groomed biking and hiking. Paved paths connect you to Manitowish Waters, Boulder Junction, and Presque Isle for ice cream runs, coffee stops, and souvenir browsing. Day‑trip options include Lake Superior’s beaches and scenic shoreline. Closer to home you’ll find golf courses, supper clubs, antique shops, and even underground caves. Pack for adventure and see where the day takes you.

Good to know

• Weekly stays are common, typically Saturday–Saturday in summer.

• Pets are considered—bring the four‑legged family if approved.
