Traveling to See the Beautiful Colors in Wisconsin

Autumn in Wisconsin is full of excitement, festivals, and of course color. Vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and red can be viewed all throughout WI in September and October. Whether you enjoy fall from a bike trail, on a porch overlooking one of WI lakes or rivers, from the window, or on a hike – the colors of the season are sure to impress. One of our favorite tools for the fall is the Fall Color Report by Travel Wisconsin. The color on each county correlates to the color of the trees. Stop trying to predict when your favorite location will reach its peak coloring, use the tool.

Plan your fall getaway around the colors of Wisconsin. Use our simple MAP search which allows you to view properties by location. From here you can view photo galleries, descriptions, a map, amenities, and if the property is own water, there is a lake/river map available.

Creating Your Own Iron Cast in Door County

Take a trip to Door County this fall and join the Iron Pour Benefit on October 6, 2012. This event allows participants to design their own iron mold creation. The process begins as participants etch into a sand-and-resin mold. At dusk there is fun music, refreshments, and of course the blazing hot iron tiles being created. The iron is recycled, heated to 2000ºF, and poured into each hand crafted mold. The entire process is made possible by students at the Peninsula School of Art.

Creating the mold is enjoyable for all ages.

Watch the fantastic show as each hand crafted mold is filed with blazing hot iron.

Vacation cottages in Fish Creek, WI are cozy and near great attractions. This September, visit some the great locations in Door County and check out the iron casting event in Fish Creek.

Bidding Farewell to Summer of 2012

As August comes to a close, we’re all reminded that summer 2012 is coming to an end. So here’s the splash of reality – here’s that time of year to get back into your routine. But before we get too ahead of ourselves, it’s time to capture this year’s summer trends.

Top 5 of WI Summer 2012

  1. The spontaneous getaway. Don’t get us wrong, we all love the vacations that merely take a year’s preparation, but this summer more and more vacations were taking last minute getaways and LOVED it. All we need is a few days to unwind, relax, and enjoy good company. So cheers to all the memories and all the laughs!
  2. So…where are the mosquitoes? Our dry (mostly) and hot (usually) WI summer brought a pleasant surprise! Instead of going through two bottles of mosquito spray, we only used half a bottle. How can we complain about that?
  3. The solution for the hot summer days – water. Warm summers are not going to stop us. Whatever it is: lake, pond, river, pool, we were all meeting in the waters to cool off.
  4. Traveling in packs. Here’s one trend we have picked up on, large groups traveling together. Maybe that means a family reunion or a group of great friends, but summer 2012 was definitely the summer to enjoy each others company.
  5. Bon Iver inspires. Winner of the 2012 Grammys best new artist goes to…(drum roll)..Bon Iver who recorded much of his music in the rural Fall Creek, Wisconsin. Alright, you got us, not everyone was rushing to Wisconsin to explore their musical abilities. But there was a trend to get out and do what you’re passionate about – bird watching, water recreation, hiking, biking, you name it.
