In 2009, Joe Mogensen founded RentWisconsinCabins.com. Since the launch of RentWisconsinCabins.com, the vacation rental website has taken off. Property owners love the niche website because we provide affordable rates and a huge ROI. Vacationers love the huge selection – we have a growing list of over 700 vacation cabins, cottages, lodges, and homes in Wisconsin.

Vacationers have asked, “Why isn’t there a similar website for other states?” We are responding to that request. WE ARE COMING MINNESOTA!

Vacationing in Large Groups

Make sure the smiles are for real!

This summer my family is having a reunion at the same Northern-Wisconsin resort my parents owned in the 70’s and 80’s. Hats-off to my mom who is organizing the trip for 16 to 18 people. Heck, organizing a weekend getaway for my family 4 (5 with the dog) is nearly impossible.

Do you have what it takes to organize a large group?

Leadership
Don’t go into the leadership role halfway; reluctant leadership is worse than none at all. Remember, the best leaders actively delegate.

People
Avoid looking back on your trip and saying, “we should have done some group psychological testing before the trip.” I know, it’s not practical to ask my two sisters, (I mean) everyone you’re considering traveling with to submit to testing (no matter how tempting the idea is). But, if your group came together by happenstance; the Leader should ask questions. There are no “right” or “wrong” answers; their greatest value is self-awareness.

General Attitudes
The passive/aggressive is the achilles heel of any travel group. They will not state their needs up front, but they will openly complain during and after the fact if their needs are not met. Avoid them at all costs! Get answers…How much time do you want/expect to spend with the group? How much alone? What travel pace do you prefer?

Money
Differing attitudes about money is one of the key factors leading to divorce. If $ can split up people who plan to spend their lives together, imagine what it can do to those who’ve only committed to 7 days of togetherness. Ask about equally handling big expenses (example, damages to rental property) which we know would never really happen.

Do everything you can to enjoy your vacation and, if you have accepted the role of Leader, part of your job is to help your entire group SMILE.

RentWisconsinCabins.com has been redesigned. We’ve made lots of changes to improve the way you find and book a Wisconsin vacation cabin, cottage, lodge or home that meets your needs. We invite you to check it out today.

The first thing you’ll notice is that we’ve tied our one-of-a-kind Narrow Your Search Tool to an interactive Google Map.

  • The Narrow Your Search Tool lets you to enter travel criteria and “Display Results.” The interactive Map updates and all matching property listings appear below the map. Select the rentals that meet your needs and submit the inquiry form at the bottom of the page. It’s the same way you sent one inquiry to multiple owners on our old website.

QUICKLY search by town: Say you want to see all rentals in/near Eagle River, WI — just choose Eagle River in the “select destinations” drop-down menu and click “Display Results.” Done. The drop-down menu is filled with towns big and small; select one or more! Search by region too.

  • If you know where you want to go, use the interactive Map and ZOOM IN on the area to see the rentals. Keep zooming in and you’ll start to see individual pins for EVERY RENTAL UNIT. When you see tight clusters of pins, you’ve found Multi-cabin resorts. Keep zooming in and you’ll notice that we display PINS for individual resort cottages! Each pin is clickable.
The second thing you’ll notice is that EVERY property listing NOW HAS A FULL DETAILS PAGE. You wanted more property information, availability calendars, lots of pictures. We even provide property links to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and more! If a property is running a rental-special, you’ll find it on their details page! Find links to the owner’s official website.

Our new website design went Live on November 9. We are still making some minor adjustments, and would appreciate any feedback, because RentWisconsinCabins.com is for YOU.

Our obsession with promoting Wisconsin vacation rentals has already made us the largest — now, we want RentWisCabins.com to be your favorite website when it’s time to explore Wisconsin.

Cabin Time. What is it?

 

 

Cabin Time. It’s in our slogan and our Tweets – it’s on our website and our Blogs. We make a reference to Cabin Time whenever we can. What exactly is it? Cabin Time is a shared vacation experience when time seemingly slows down. It begins when your group steps out of the car, stretches, and takes a deep breath upon arriving at a Wisconsin vacation cabin, cottage, lodge or home.

Cabin Time FEELS different. Your pace slows down, your attention to sights and sounds are heightened, food tastes better, conversations are genuine. It’s amazing who you become when Cabin Time kicks in: Relationships are strengthened as you reconnect with family & friends. Storytelling is rampant, and reflections on past experiences suddenly surface. My parents turned into teachers during Cabin Time – that’s when I learned to read a compass, start a 9.9hp evinrude motor, swim, and X-country Ski. My grandmother taught me to put my ear on a hot sun-soaked rock to cure an earache. It works.

See Places You Never Knew You Wished To See

If a vacationer clicked on our MAP of Wisconsin vacation rentals with no idea of where they wanted to go, it could look somewhat overwhelming. That’s because there are so many great places in Wisconsin to see. There are destinations throughout Wisconsin for all types of vacationers. Those that love to water ski, hunt, relax by the water and read a book, or hangout with the family inside a cozy cottage. We know there are a lot of choices, that’s why we are here to help.

Solutions for the undecided Wisconsin traveler:

  1. Use the Narrow Your Search tool to find WI vacation rentals that meet your criteria. Just enter some information like the number in your party, rental setting, budget, etc. to find a group of Wisconsin properties that fit your needs.
  2. Ask around – family, friends, neighbors. See where they’ve gone or would like to go in WI. Then use our interactive MAP of WI to find properties in that specific area.
